Privacy policy

Oceanside Builds is a residential building company based in Mount Maunganui, New Zealand. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and in the course of our work, how we use it, and the choices you have. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 2020.

What we collect

Information you give us. When you email, phone or fill in a form on our site, we collect what you choose to share: your name, email address, phone number, the address of your project, and details about what you are planning to build or renovate. If you go on to work with us, we collect the information needed to price and run your project, including plans, budgets and correspondence.

Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our site uses analytics and advertising tools that collect technical information about your visit, such as your device, browser, approximate location, the pages you view and how you arrived at the site. This is collected using cookies and similar technologies. See Cookies and tracking below.

How we use it

We use personal information to respond to your enquiry, arrange a discovery call or site visit, prepare pricing, run your project and keep in touch about it. We also use it to understand how people use our website, to measure whether our advertising is working, and to show our advertising to people who have visited the site.

If you sign up to receive a guide, newsletter or other content from us, we will use your email address to send it. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email we send.

Cookies and tracking

Our website uses the following third party tools:

  • Google Analytics to measure traffic and understand how the site is used. Google’s privacy policy is at policies.google.com/privacy. You can opt out at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout.

  • Meta Pixel to measure the performance of our Facebook and Instagram advertising and to show our ads to people who have visited our site. Meta’s privacy policy is at facebook.com/privacy/policy. You can manage how Meta uses your data for advertising in your Facebook ad settings.

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Doing so will not affect your ability to use our site.

Who we share it with

We do not sell personal information. We share it only where needed to run our business and deliver your project:

  • Service providers that host our website, store our files, and send our email.

  • Google and Meta, as described above, for analytics and advertising.

  • Architects, designers, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers working on your project, where sharing is needed to do the work.

  • Where the law requires it.

Some of these providers store information outside New Zealand. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is protected to a standard comparable to the Privacy Act 2020.

How long we keep it

We keep enquiry details for as long as we need them to respond to you and follow up. Project records are kept for as long as required for warranty, guarantee and legal purposes after a project is completed.

Security

We take reasonable steps to keep personal information safe from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal information we hold about you and to ask us to correct it. To do so, contact us using the details below. We will respond within 20 working days.

If you have a concern about how we have handled your information, contact us first so we can put it right. You can also complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner at privacy.org.nz.
